Sandoval Lake Lodge is an eco-lodge located inside the Tambopata National Reserve, on the shores of Lake Sandoval. Being inside the protected area means healthier habitats and greater chances of seeing wildlife.
By staying with us, you contribute directly to the conservation of a Peruvian protected area: part of the entrance fee goes to the management of the reserve.
The lodge also benefits local families, who participate as partners and collaborators. Many of them have shifted from activities that were not compatible with the reserve towards sustainable ecotourism.
Sunrises and sunsets over the lake are particularly spectacular: clouds and colours reflected on the water create the feeling of being in a truly magical place. The best way to experience them is by staying overnight at Sandoval Lake Lodge.
Because hunting is not allowed inside the reserve, wildlife is more abundant: guests frequently see several species of monkeys and many kinds of birds around the lodge.
A family of giant river otters (Pteronura brasiliensis) lives in the lake. Early in the morning and late in the afternoon they leave their dens to fish and play, offering unique viewing opportunities for those who are staying at the lodge.
Spending the night in the reserve also lets you experience the Amazon after dark: nocturnal sounds, stars, and the chance to see creatures that only appear at night.
